EXPERIENCE NORFOLK BROADSThe Norfolk Broads covers a total land space of 117 square miles (303 square kilometres). It is made up of a number of rivers and lakes (broads) that are only approximately 4 metres deep. The area is considered on the same level as a national park and affords similar rights. There are over 120 miles (200km) of navigable waterways within the area but the longest and arguably the most prettiest is the River Bure that rises in Aylsham and meanders its way to the coast at Great Yarmouth covering around 32 miles. The stretch between Coltishall and Wroxham is generally the busiest part of the river.
This is the perfect river to spend the weekend exploring the 63 broads that exist in the area. Along the route there are churches to see, cafes and pubs for refreshments and plenty of areas to pitch your tent for the evening. The perfect place for a slow stand up paddling journey. IMPORTANT INFORMATIONLicenses are not required on non-navigable stretches of Norfolk’s rivers although access points can often be difficult to find.
For all navigable stretches your vessel must be licensed. |
