CORE TEAM
MARCUS SAMPERI |
Marcus is a cameraman/teacher by day but in his spare time likes to put pen to paper and scribble away. He really finds it hard to shy away from a challenge, which in the past has seen him running, trekking and now Stand Up Paddleboarding. Not a born sportsman by any stretch of the imagination, he has to persevere through belligerent motivation just to give it a go.
Stand Up Paddleboarding has exposed his love for the slower pace of life and he is excited to see how this mode of transport can potentially introduce him to some different perspectives of the landscape that he's grown to love. PENNY MITCHELL |
Penny, a self-confessed lover of the great outdoors particularly being in and around water, was born and bred in the Surrey town of Weybridge: a literal stones throw from the River Thames. This being the case it took her until the Bristol to London PaddleCrawl challenge to take advantage of the close proximity. That journey has really ignited Penny's interest for exploring the many waterways that exist not only in the UK but abroad as well. As a London city worker she really values her time out on the board and capitalises on her free time in order to explore as many places as possible.
Since completing the Bristol to London PaddleCrawl she has found out that she is in fact the first woman to have ever done it! |
NEIL FROGGITT |
Neil is a landscape gardener by trade who spends most of his time exploring not only the UK but the world, notching up experiences as he goes. It's not unusual for him to be packing up for a weekend away doing different activities including pack-rafting, trekking or exploring different areas of the country - an active adventure seeker and intrepid traveler by nature. Having already successfully trekked to Everest Base Camp and explored the relatively untouched Myanmar he jumped at the chance to get involved with PaddleCrawl, in his words: "to see beautiful parts of the country". Seeing life from a stand up paddle board will not only allow him to do this but to also give him a unique perspective of the land.
Neil is a great route finder and it's always exciting to find out where he has picked to explore next. |
WILL PHILLIPS |
Will's day-to-day activities see him working as a Visual Effects Artist on many high-end feature films ranging from Spectre to the Avengers, however, this is a long way from his early ambitions to become the next David Attenborough. Being a graduate in Zoology he still isn't quite sure how he ended up working behind a computer for his day job. He balances his time spent indoors by getting outside as much as possible. He is currently training for his mountain leader qualification and likes to spend the vast majority of his time outdoors exploring new areas in the UK and abroad. He has walked 150-miles of the Lycian Way in Turkey battling scorpion bites and the vast heat, visited the Arctic Circle and many other adventures in between.
He is never far away from his SUP and has been known to go out exploring the waterways on an icy cold winters day wearing shorts! |
